Meet the berracas behind Berraca

We're Isabel and Kate, the founders of Berraca. One Colombian. One American. Two immigrants who have started over more than once to build careers in new countries. Experience tells us that the best opportunities are created together, and often by chance.

Like many good ideas, Berraca didn't begin in an office. It began on one of those rare, sunny Dutch afternoons, sharing ideas over a couple of beers while bikes rattled by.

At the time, Isabel was building her photography business and often exchanged photo sessions for services she couldn't yet afford. A website. A ceramic workshop. Marketing support. The more she did it, the more she realized something powerful: when women share their skills, everyone wins.

That simple experience sparked a question.

What if there were a place where women could easily exchange skills, collaborate, and grow their businesses together?

When Isabel shared the idea with Kate, the answer was immediate.

"We can build that."

From that moment, Berraca became our shared mission.

Together, we refined the idea, debated features, and imagined the kind of platform that helps build networks in a tangible way. Isabel brings the experience of building community networks and real-life entrepreneurship. Kate applies years of experience in tech and digital to shape the user experience and product vision that transformed the idea into a platform. She also gave it its name.

In Colombia, a berraca is a woman who is resourceful, resilient, courageous, and determined. A woman who always finds a way. It is the perfect name for the community we wanted to build.

Today, Berraca is more than an app. It's a place where women connect, collaborate, support one another, and create opportunities together.
