The Berraca Momentum Exchange

Momentum, not market rate.

Berraca is a community, not a marketplace. Every member has something valuable to contribute, and every contribution builds Momentum. Members exchange directly or through Momentum. The objective is to keep support moving throughout the community.

Contribution Levels reflect the overall commitment involved, not the importance of the work or the professional experience of the member. Timeframes are guidance, not rules; some members complete the same contribution more quickly because of their expertise.

Starting with trust

Every member joins with 50 Momentum.

Berraca begins with trust. Every verified member receives 50 Momentum when they join the community. It's not a reward or a payment — it's an invitation to participate.

We trust that, over time, every member will both give and receive, helping keep Momentum moving throughout the community.

The four Contribution Levels

Core Momentum

10 Momentum

A generous, self-contained contribution · up to 2 hours

Examples: resume review, social media post, headshots, a manicure, dog walking, a professional introduction.

Focused Momentum

30 Momentum

Real, hands-on help · 2–8 hours

Examples: brand photoshoot, logo design, tax consultation, tutoring session, social media content plan, yoga class.

Significant Momentum

75 Momentum

A substantial project · 1–5 days

Examples: website design, branding package, community event, translation of a report, wedding photography, CRM setup.

Transformational Momentum

150 Momentum

A meaningful build · 1–6+ weeks

Examples: MVP app, full brand & website redesign, documentary production, membership platform, major grant proposal.

Every contribution has value. Momentum simply recognises the scale of the commitment.

Across different skills

The same level looks different depending on the skill. A few illustrative examples:

Two ways to exchange

Direct exchange

Exchange one of your contributions for one of hers. No Momentum spent.

Through Momentum

Receive a contribution without giving one back right now. The Momentum you've built covers it.

Combination

Exchange what you can and top up with Momentum when levels don't quite match.

A guiding principle

Momentum Contributions are guides, not price tags. The goal is to make exchanges feel fair, transparent and accessible while recognising the commitment behind every contribution.

If a contribution feels too large for one level, members are encouraged to:

  • Break the project into milestones.
  • Combine Momentum with a direct swap.
  • Agree on a different exchange that feels fair to everyone involved.

Breaking projects into milestones

Some projects naturally unfold over time. Instead of assigning one large Momentum Contribution, they can be broken into meaningful milestones.

How Momentum flows

  1. Someone requests your contribution. If it's a Momentum request, her balance is held immediately.
  2. You accept, deliver, and both sides confirm.
  3. Momentum transfers to you — added to your balance and your lifetime "Momentum built" total.
  4. If it's cancelled or declined, her Momentum is refunded automatically.

Why not money?

Money turns helping each other into a transaction. Momentum keeps the focus on the community. Every contribution is recognised, and support keeps moving between members instead of stopping at a bill.
